Congratulations to Mitch Crews for Wrapping up the 2010 season as the Australian Pro Jrn Champion. There were many battles fought and he took every one of them head on. Members, James Woods rated 7th and Blake 8th.. Other Recent results include: Mitch Parko took out the U16s at the Coffs Jesus Pro Am, Tiana McNeven got 2nd at the Oz Titles, and Sol Baily & Alyssa Lock got 2nd at the NSW Jr Titles in their divisions held at Forster. Getting us to this weekend. Once again Mont & Lorraine managed to wave the magic wand and get waves. Occy & Rusty Grom Comps Rundown. Wahu To Come

A busy month with the Occy Grom comp in town and frothers galore all over the place, then down to Lennox for the Rusty Gromfest. There were many battles fought at both locations. With the Occy, Brodie Doyle grabbed a 3rd in the U16s and Kianni Dobbyn a 2nd in the U14s. Down at the Rusty, Soli Baily won the blue ribbon division, Brodie Doyle got 2nd in the 16&Us, and Alyssa Lock collected a 2nd in the 12&Us. The pack out the point were put on notice when the micros to cadets took control of Snapper over the weekend.. With no shortage of new boards to froth with, it was all go as they set off and got down to business. Later in the day a tag team event kept them busy while the BBQ got fired up to feed their hungry bellys..

It was on for young and old this weekend at Snapper for the Open Club round No 1 of 2010… Waves Galore and smiles all round… Results to be posted later but it went right down to the wire culminating in a very extended Man On Man final between B Lee and D Parkinson….
The judging too close to call, so it may take some time for the final adjudication.. Well done to the Jrn team qualifying for the Ransom Tag Team final that was held on Sat at yet another new venue…

Gonna Be A Busy Weekend

Its getting into busy season and there are a swag of events open for entry for the Groms to Jrns at www.surfingqueensland.com.au but this weekend sees the Ransom Jrn Tag Team event to be held on Sat at Tugun, get down there and cheer on the team. Sunday brings Open Round No1 for the year and the 2010 Annual General Meeting will also take place on the day. A big congrats to Kiani Dobbyn for her maiden win, taking out the 14&U Division at the All Girls Showdown at Lennox held over last weekend.

Round No 3 was the 1st round in quite some time to be held on the Rocks, the Snapper micro groms ruled the micro waves. Known players and newcomers alike, revelled in the 1 to 2 foot walls that were making their way down into the bay, and a sign of things to come for winter, the banks are groomed and ready to go..

On this fine day, Steph Gilmore also wrapped up the Beachley Classic in Sydney solidifying her lead , looking the goods..

Event No. 2 on the 2010 ASP Women’s World Tour, the Rip Curl Women’s Pro came to a dramatic close today, with the unstoppable, young Australian collecting her third Bells Title in four attempts.

“I’m a bit overwhelmed by this,” Gilmore said. “To ring the bell once is an amazing feeling, but three times? I don’t think the gravity of it has sunk in yet. It’s an incredible event and I feel very fortunate to have achieved such success here so far.”

Josh Kerr used his aerial antics once again, but this time in the Snapper Trails For The Trials, taking the win in a man on man final against Jay Phillips. This secures him the SRSC trials spot for 2011.
